Chicken Tikka Masala is a popular Indian dish with marinated
grilled chicken pieces in a creamy tomato-based sauce. Here is a recipe for
making Chicken Tikka Masala at home:
Ingredients:
1 pound boneless chicken breasts, cut into bite-sized
pieces
1 cup plain yogurt
1 tablespoon minced garlic
1 tablespoon minced ginger
2 teaspoons ground cumin
2 teaspoons ground coriander
1/2 teaspoon turmeric
1/2 teaspoon cayenne pepper
Salt, to taste
1 tablespoon ghee or vegetable oil
1 large onion, chopped
2 teaspoons garam masala
1 can (14.5 ounces) crushed tomatoes
1 cup heavy cream
Fresh cilantro, chopped for garnish
Instructions:
In a large bowl, whisk together the yogurt, garlic,
ginger, cumin, coriander, turmeric, cayenne pepper, and salt. Add the chicken
pieces and stir to coat well. Cover and refrigerate for at least 30 minutes or
up to 4 hours.
Preheat the broiler or grill to high heat. Thread the
chicken onto skewers and discard any excess marinade. Grill or broil the
chicken for 5-7 minutes on each side, until cooked through and slightly charred.
In a large skillet, heat the ghee or oil over medium-high
heat. Add the chopped onion and cook until softened, about 5 minutes. Add the
garam masala and cook for another minute.
Add the crushed tomatoes and stir to combine. Simmer for
5-10 minutes until the sauce has thickened slightly.
Stir in the heavy cream and chicken pieces. Simmer for
5-10 minutes until the chicken is heated through and the sauce has thickened to
your desired consistency.
Serve over rice and garnish with fresh cilantro. Enjoy
your homemade chicken tikka masala!
